Excitement (And Fall) is in the Air!

School is in full swing at PONS! Fall will be full of new and exciting experiences for our students. The Fall Festival is just around the corner. Check the Fall Festival section of this newsletter for an update.

Soon, the students will have the opportunity to join their first enrichment class! Enrichment classes are offered on Fridays after normal school hours. Your child does not have to be enrolled in the Friday school day to participate. Spanish will be the first enrichment class to be offered this year! Spanish is always a favorite among our students. Check your parent mailbox for more information.

Snack days will also be starting, as well. Becca Mitchell, our room parent, will be posting the snack day calendar every month on our bulletin board. We ask that you write the snack that you will be providing on your child’s designated day. Please, adhere to the PONS food rules for the safety of our students. Snack day provides you with the opportunity to spend time with your child at school. You can come for your child’s full session or come just for snack time, whatever works for your schedule. Lastly, your child will be assigned snack day on, or close to their birthday. This gives you and your child the opportunity to celebrate their special day with the class.

Happy Fall Everyone!

A Message from Mrs. Johnson!
Welcome back to our old students and a warm welcome to our new friends! We are learning names through games and songs. We are reading and learning about how special each friend is in our class. We are talking about how we are all the same, but how each of us is different in a very special way.

We are reading many books, working on projects, and learning to share, take turns, and make new friends. We will be taking turns bringing home our “favorite things bag.” It is similar to “show and tell” and much fun for our class.

Thank you to our wonderful families, for all of your help in getting us off to another great school year. It is what being a “co-op” is all about!

NUT FREE is the Way to Be!
A friendly reminder to all parents:
PONS is a nut free school. Please do not send your child to school with nuts of any kind. This includes peanut butter, tree nuts and coconut. This is for the safety of our students with severe nut allergies

Parent Board Meetings
The board met on September 17th. We discussed the fall festival, school maintenance and website updates. The next meeting will be on October 10th at 6pm. This will be the last meeting before the fall festival. Again, all parents are welcome. If you are volunteering the day of the festival, this meeting will give you the opportunity to see what is planned for the day of the festival. We hope to see some new faces at our next meeting!

Giving Tree
Our giving tree display is available for viewing. There are tags on the giving tree indicating the school’s current needs. If you would like to donate supplies, pick a tag from the tree and bring the designated supply back to school.

PONS appreciates everything our parents do for our school and its students. Parent involvement is the cornerstone of our school. Thank you for all you do for your child and all the students of PONS!

Fall Festival Update
The Fall Festival is our biggest fundraiser of the year and great fun for the families and friends of PONS.

A “wish list” will be posted in October to the school bulletin board. We realize that some families may not be able to attend or volunteer on October 26th but would still like to help in some way. The wish list will be comprised of items needed to complete silent auction baskets. If you would like to donate an item, you can choose something from the list and provide it to any of the board members or our teachers. We appreciate any and all involvement with this fundraiser.

Please spread the word about this fundraiser. Flyers are available to pass out to family and friends. Flyers are located by the sign in book.
